Energy, Sustainability and Society presents a special issue in association with New energy for Industry, NEFI featuring a collection of high-quality research articles selected from the submissions for Conference of the Innovation Network 2024 - Innovating together: Paving the Path to Climate Neutrality.

For this collection we invite authors whose contributed conference abstracts have received positive evaluation to submit full length paper. These submissions will undergo a final round of peer-review process and upon acceptance will be published in Springer Energy Sustainability and Society. Professor Thomas Kienberger, Dipl. -Ing., Dr. techn., Montanuniversitaet Leoben, Austria

Since 2014, Prof. Kienberger has been head of the new Chair of Energy Network Technology at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben. In his research and teaching, he focuses on issues aimed at optimizing the efficiency and flexibility of public energy systems and industrial energy systems by means of interdisciplinary, systemic approaches.

Univ. Prof. Dipl. Ing. Dr. techn. Thomas Kienberger studied "Electrical Energy Engineering" at the Graz University of Technology, which was followed by a dissertation at the Graz University of Technology. Between 2006 and 2007 he worked as a development engineer at Siemens AG in Erlangen/Germany. From 2007 to 2010 he was employed as a scientific assistant at the Institute of Thermal Engineering at the Graz University of Technology, where he led the working group "substitute natural gas", among others. From 2011 to 2014 he was head of R&D and authorized signatory at the start-up agnion Highterm-Research and at the same time acted as lecturer at TU-Graz. Since 2014, he has headed the Chair of Energy Network Technology at the University of Leoben. In addition to his activities in industry, Prof. Kienberger has been able to initiate numerous research projects and publish more than 50 conference and journal papers.

   Energy, Sustainability and Society presents a special issue in association with New energy for Industry, NEFI featuring a collection of high-quality research articles selected from the submissions for Conference of the Innovation Network 2024 - Innovating together: Paving the Path to Climate Neutrality.

The 3rd international NEFI scientific conference hosted by The NEFI Innovation Network is to be held in Vienna on October 24-25, 2024. This conference aims to bring together national international decision- makers, experts from research, politics and industry to facilitate intensive exchange paving the path to transforming industrial energy system. The thematic priority of the conference and the collection will be Circular Economy, CCU/S, CO₂ neutral gases & green hydrogen, Electrification, Flexibilisation, Industrial symbiosis and energy efficiency, Legislation, Policy & Business Models.

For this collection we invite authors whose contributed conference abstracts have received positive evaluation to submit full length paper. These submissions will undergo a final round of peer-review process and upon acceptance will be published in Springer Energy Sustainability and Society.

This Collection welcomes submission of full-length paper whose abstracts have been selected for the conference. Please read journal submission guidelines for more information.

Articles for this Collection should be submitted via our submission system, Snapp. Please, select the appropriate Collection title “3rd Conference of the Innovation Network: New Energy for Industry" under the “Details” tab during the submission stage.

Articles will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process and are subject to all the journal’s standard policies. Articles will be added to the Collection as they are published.
