As one of the major complications of diabetes mellitus (DM), diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the leading causes of new cases of blindness worldwide. DR is a multifactorial disease, which potentially leads to irreversible retinal damage if timely and effective treatments are not in place. This thematic series focuses on the recent applications of retinal imaging, nutritional therapies and medical Foods as well as other novel research on DR.
