Call for papers - Asthma in children

Nusrat Homaira, MBBS, MPH, PhD, UNSW and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Australia

Dr Nusrat Homaira is a medically trained child respiratory health researcher with almost two decades of working experience in prevention and control of common lung diseases of childhood in low-middle- and high-income settings. Her current work focuses on modifying the intersection between acute and chronic respiratory conditions in children and she is leading multiple high-level interventional trials to improve child respiratory health outcomes. Dr Homaira has published extensively in (~100 ) high impact journals including Lancet series, Thorax, and BMJ series and her research has attracted almost 10 million AUD in funding. 
 

Rebecca Nantanda, MBChB, PhD, Makerere University Lung Institute, Uganda

Dr Rebecca Nantanda is a Pediatrician and Senior Research Scientist at Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI), College of Health Sciences Makerere University. She is an awardee of the MRC/FCDO African Research Leaders 2023. Dr Nantanda's research interests lie in lung health in children with a focus on asthma, pneumonia, and early life determinants of lung health.
She is PI and Co-PI on several studies including CHEST-AFRICA, improving access to asthma care in Uganda (ACCA) and Improving diagnosis and management of acute respiratory illnesses in young children (ALRITE). 
Dr Nantanda has membership to the following professional bodies: Uganda Pediatrics Association (UPA), Pan-African Thoracic Society (PATS), European Respiratory Society (ERS), and The International Union Against TB and Lung Diseases (The Union).
