Wenqiang Xin, after completing a Master's degree in Medicine at Tianjin Medical University, secured a scholarship to pursue a doctoral program at the Medical School of Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in Germany, recognized as one of the nation's nine prestigious universities. In 2023, they successfully earned their doctoral degree in medicine. Following this achievement, they joined the Department of Neurosurgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University and the Key Laboratory of Neurosurgery in Jiangxi Province to embark on research endeavors. Over the past six years, their focus has been on translational research concerning ischemic stroke, particularly exploring the reparative potential of extracellular vesicle therapy post ischemic stroke. With significant contributions as either the primary author or corresponding author, they have published 30 papers across reputable journals.

About the Collection

BMC Pulmonary Medicine is calling for submissions to our upcoming Collection on Extracellular vesicles in pulmonary disease and medicine.

Pulmonary diseases pose a significant health burden globally. Understanding the intricate involvement of extracellular vesicles in pulmonary pathophysiology is crucial for advancing our knowledge and developing novel therapeutic approaches. This Collection strives to explore extracellular vesicles in pulmonary health, including their roles as potential biomarkers, mediators of intercellular communication, and therapeutic targets.

We welcome original research that contributes to our understanding of extracellular vesicles in pulmonary disease, including but not limited to:

• Characterization of extracellular vesicles in pulmonary diseases
• Diagnostic and prognostic potential of extracellular vesicles
• Therapeutic applications of extracellular vesicles in pulmonary disease
• The interplay between extracellular vesicles and pulmonary disease risk factors
• Mechanisms of extracellular vesicle-mediated cell-to-cell communication in pulmonary health and disease
• Extracellular vesicles as mediators of inflammation and oxidative stress in the pulmonary system
• Novel technologies and methodologies for studying extracellular vesicles in pulmonary research
• Translational potential and challenges in harnessing extracellular vesicles for pulmonary therapeutics

This Collection aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being. By focusing on the pivotal role of extracellular vesicles in pulmonary disorders, we aim to shed light on their multifaceted aspects and provide valuable insights into potential strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and overall management.
