About the Collection

BMC Urology is inviting submissions for our Collection on Fertility preservation in testicular cancer. This Collection welcomes research that contributes to advancing knowledge in the field of fertility preservation for individuals diagnosed with testicular cancer, with the aim of improving the quality of care provided to affected individuals and contributing to better health outcomes.

Testicular cancer is one of the most common malignancies in men, and its treatment often involves therapies that can compromise fertility. While advances in cancer treatment have significantly improved survival rates, these treatments can adversely impact fertility.

Fertility preservation strategies in testicular cancer have become an increasingly important area of research, aiming to mitigate the impact of cancer treatment on reproductive health. These strategies encompass a range of approaches, including sperm banking, testicular tissue cryopreservation, and hormonal interventions, with the goal of preserving fertility potential for post-treatment parenthood.

Advancing our collective understanding of fertility preservation strategies for testicular cancer is crucial to improving the quality of life for cancer survivors. Recent advances have highlighted the efficacy of various fertility preservation techniques, leading to improved access and utilization of these options for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Additionally, research has emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between urologists, oncologists, and reproductive specialists in providing comprehensive fertility care to cancer patients.

This Collection welcomes research that contributes to our understanding of fertility preservation in testicular cancer, including research related to:

  • Impact of testicular cancer treatment on fertility.
  • Fertility preservation options for testicular cancer patients.
  • Multidisciplinary approaches to fertility care in oncology.
  • Reproductive outcomes and quality of life in testicular cancer survivors.
  • Psychological and social aspects faced by patients regarding fertility preservation.
  • The role of genetic counseling in fertility preservation and family planning.
  • Disparities in access to fertility preservation service.
  • Patient and healthcare education about fertility preservation strategies.

This Collection aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
