About the Collection

BMC Urology is calling for submissions to our Collection on Innovations in phalloplasty and vaginoplasty.

This Collection aims to explore the innovative approaches and advancements in the field of phalloplasty and vaginoplasty, providing a comprehensive platform for researchers and clinicians to share their insights and strategies for improving surgical outcomes and patient care.

In recent years, there has been a growing focus on innovations in phalloplasty and vaginoplasty, which are integral components of gender-affirming surgery for transgender and non-binary individuals. These surgical procedures aim to align an individual's physical appearance with their gender identity, contributing to improved mental health and overall well-being. Advances in surgical techniques, postoperative care, and patient outcomes have garnered increasing attention within the medical community, highlighting the need for further research and exploration in this field.

It is crucial for us to continue advancing our collective understanding of innovations in phalloplasty and vaginoplasty to enhance patient outcomes, minimize surgical complications, and optimize postoperative quality of life. Recent advances in this area include the refinement of surgical techniques, the development of novel tissue engineering approaches, and the integration of patient-centered care models. Additionally, research has emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the incorporation of patient perspectives in shaping surgical innovations.
