About the Collection

BMC Digital Health is calling for submissions to our Collection, The role of digital health in supporting people with dementia.

Dementia, a growing global healthcare challenge, has a profound impact on the lives of individuals living with this condition and their caregivers. With an aging population and an increasing prevalence of dementia, the need for innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life and support for those affected by dementia is more pressing than ever. Digital health technologies have emerged as powerful tools that can potentially transform dementia care, offering new hope and possibilities.

Interdisciplinary research has already propelled significant strides, such as the development of personalized cognitive training programs, remote monitoring systems for behavioral changes, and the integration of AI for early detection. These innovations not only enhance patient autonomy but also alleviate caregiver burden, offering a glimpse into a future where predictive models could anticipate and manage symptom progression effectively.

This Collection aims to bring together the latest research, innovations, and insights into how digital health technologies can address the unique challenges faced by individuals living with dementia, as well as their caregivers and healthcare providers. We invite contributions that examine a wide range of topics within the intersection of dementia and digital health, including but not limited to:

  • Digital therapeutics for Alzheimer's
  • Wearable devices in remote dementia monitoring
  • AI-integrated digital health for cognitive support
  • Virtual reality interventions in dementia care
  • Mobile health for daily dementia management
  • Assistive technologies for independent living
  • Telehealth solutions for dementia support
  • Personalized DTx for cognitive enhancement
  • Digital health in socially assistive robotics
  • Virtual healthcare in managing dementia
